BenchPro’s founder began work toward a series of static control patents in production furniture back in the early 1980’s. His workbench designs incorporate many exclusive features:
Exclusive LisStat™ laminate resistance levels are always on the low side of ANSI-BIFMA standards. The sides of each top are covered in the same LisStat laminate as used on the top. (Other brands use a PVC “bumper edge” or rolled standard laminate. Neither of these are dissipative.) Our laminate front edge is wrapped under the top, where it is overlapped by an exclusive full size sheet of aluminum. (Other brands use a sheet of brown paper which is not dissipative.
This aluminum sheet both eliminates any charges collecting under the work surface, while, routing the charges from the LisStat laminate top to the frame members. This makes the entire workbench (Top, sides, and frame) dissipative at every point.
BenchPro ESD workbenches include a simple grounding lug and a 10’ grounding wire. (Others install a large bolt through the top, then attach grounding wires to the underside. This does nothing to ground the bench frame.)
